Zachary joined the Fairmount Group in summer 2019 as a communications intern. Working directly with President and CEO Mallory McMaster, Zachary helps organize client work, run social media accounts, and manage the Fairmount Group’s plethora of connections.
Zachary is an incoming second-year student at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., majoring in political communication and minoring in law and society. At college, he is a columnist for The GW Hatchet, the director of interfaith engagement for the GW Student Association, senior deputy director of mentorship for the GW College Democrats, an executive board member for J Street U, and a member of Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity.
At the Fairmount Group, Zachary has worked with a variety of clients, from the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland to the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, teaching social media skills and running some accounts. He also helped organize Pride in the CLE 2019 and the LGBT Community Center’s Grand Opening, both this June.
A 2018 graduate of Shaker Heights High School, Zachary formerly led their school’s student-run news organization, The Shakerite, as well as the Student Group on Race Relations, Shaker Heights HS Democrats, and Student Council. While in high school, he worked on several campaigns, volunteering for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, leading communications for Shaker Heights City Councilman Tres Roeder’s re-election in 2017, and advising Shaker Heights mayoral candidate Julianna Johnston Senturia’s 2018 campaign. Zachary is currently advising Shaker Heights City Council candidate Carmella Williams’ 2019 campaign as social media director.
As an activist for the Jewish and LGBTQ community, Zachary was selected as a member of U.S. Representative Marcia L. Fudge’s Youth Advisory Council, advising the Cleveland-area congresswoman on youth issues and policy. In the fall, he will be working with the Congresswoman’s staff as a congressional intern in her Washington, D.C. office. He is interested in a career in public relations, political communications, and law.
Zachary can be found either in his college dorm in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, at a local coffee shop, or with his family in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
