Amelia has spent her career acknowledging that change happens through many different avenues. She started her career as a legislative aide in the Ohio House of Representatives where she became an expert at reading and analyzing policies, supporting the development and introduction of new bills, and developing relationships with elected officials and local stakeholders.
In 2014, Amelia became the Outreach Coordinator for Policy Matters Ohio, a statewide policy research and advocacy group. In this role, Amelia traveled around northeast Ohio sharing Policy Matters research with different groups ranging from small community groups to large non-profits.
After her time at Policy Matters, Amelia moved on to become the Managing Director of Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio. In that position Amelia worked mainly with policies related to reproductive rights and access to abortion but also worked on policies around medicaid expansion and general healthcare policies. She also oversaw the administrative side of the organizing and electoral work for the state.
Amelia eventually transitioned into a brand new position at Planned Parenthood, the Director of Community Health Engagement. In that position Amelia connected Planned Parenthood’s healthcare services to different community organizations, creating opportunities for collaboration with different groups interested in different issues including the environment and criminal justice reform.
Amelia graduated in 2012 from Otterbein University. She lives in Columbus with her husband and their dog Ella.
