Karen Malone Wright is a highly skilled communications and social media strategist, coach and trainer. A seasoned professional, she offers expertise and experience in message development, media relations, special events, public affairs, branding and marketing communications. After several years informal collaboration with The Fairmount Group, Karen joined The Fairmount Group’s consulting team in early 2018.
In 2012, Karen founded The NotMom® as a resource for childless and childfree women, resulting from her own frustration with online searches for women like herself, who weren’t mothers or trying to be. The celebrated website and lifestyle blog at www.TheNotMom.com has attracted major media coverage. Karen has been recognized by The New York Times, Ms. Magazine, BBC Radio London and other media outlets as an expert resource on childfree and childless adults, including issues that are important to them, their demographics and behaviors. Karen has hosted two The NotMom® Summits (2015 and 2017) that attracted more than 200 women from seven countries. She is also a sought-after speaker on the topic of the growing influence and community of women who are without children by choice or by chance.
An early adopter of social media, Karen began her first blog, Communications Goddess, in 2007 to chronicle her online explorations. Within two years, she had found her calling as a social media evangelist and educator. Previously, Karen managed communications and public relations for corporations, media and nonprofits for more than 20 years in Washington, DC, Detroit and Cleveland. In 2000, she founded her own communications consulting firm, Odyssey Creative Communications, to focus on media coaching and workshops to help executives and their teams effectively use social media as a marketing strategy.
Karen is a Cleveland native and a graduate of American University, with a BA in print journalism. She served for two terms as Board President of the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. She lives in University Heights, Ohio with husband Andrew, and Frank Lloyd Wright, their rescued cat.
